Not all dresses are created equal. I mean, obviously, but just like most people, I have certain dresses that I reserve for the more swanky soirees of life and others that are for everyday excursions. However, there are those everyday days when a girl just likes to put on a little extra make-up than usual or throw on a pair of heels and maybe pull out one of those swanky soiree dresses. That was just what I did this past weekend. While this dress isn't particularly expensive, it is one that I usually reserve for special occasions. There's something about this color that always feels a little bit fancier and makes these everyday days just a little bit swankier.

When chevron was all the rage a little while ago, I quickly grew tired of it. However, with it's fun diagonal lines and whimsical appeal it still remained the perfect way to create adorable interior spaces with a chevron rug or even wallpaper. When I spotted this dress today, though, I remembered how fun of a style it was and even though it is quite popular in interiors, very rarely do you actually see it on pieces of clothing. I love the way that the chevron pattern is on the bodice part of this dress by Hallelu so that it isn't overwhelming, and the coral colored bottom is the perfect summery hue.

Bright Whites

There's something about an all white outfit that just feels so perfect and fit for summer. Aside from the lightness of the color for the strong heat, the crispness and clean look of all white shades feel effortlessly put-together and classic. However, to keep the outfit from looking too stark for someone as pale as myself, a skinny belt in a bright neon chartreuse color adds that perfect pop of color for an otherwise all white ensemble.

When I was younger, it was family tradition that my mom, sister, and I wore matching Old Navy 4th of July shirts when Independence Day rolled around. The past few years, I have been more into still purchasing these shirts for the sentimental value from when I was younger, and instead have been combining the patriotic red, white, and blue to create an Americana look that can be worn year-round.

The Stripe Is Right

While I usually reserve this skirt during the colder winter months with a chunky black sweater, I realized that it would have the same classic black and white combination with a sleeveless peter pan blouse. I love the way that the higher neckline plays up my shoulders and how the white heels adds a little brightness to the bottom of the outfit. And, with the material of the skirt, it's just as perfect on it's own for summer as it is with thicker tights for winter.

Festive Fruit Pizza

In reminiscing this past weekend about childhood desserts, I remembered how in elementary school when were were learning about fractions we made fruit pizzas. 1/8th of the pie was kiwi, 1/8th strawberry, 1/8th blackberry, and so on and so on. With the 4th of July coming up in a few days, I used this opportunity to use some festive fruits that I had on hand to bake a tasty treat worth dealing with fractions for. 

{Ingredients: Sugar Cookie dough, Strawberries, Blueberries, and Cream Cheese... That's it!}

After recently finding (and loving!) this blog,who features items from the online shopping site Romwe, I couldn't resist checking it out and being pleasantly surprised. 

With black articles of clothing being one of many New Yorkers go-to closet fillers, it is hard to believe how many different options of a black top, dress, pants, or skirt there are. This dress by Sukiired is an awesome take on that classic LBD with a more modern and "cool-girl" vibe. With elements like cut-out detailing on the sleeves, an elastic waist, and simple scoop neck, this dress is the perfect addition for any season or occasion.
