Tres Chic

Monday, March 3, 2014

/ Urban Outfitters blazer + heels / Forever 21 sweater + pants / 3.1 Philip Lim for Target purse / David Yurman ring / Revlon Lipstick /

While I have worked backstage at a few fashion shows in New York, I had never ventured over to Lincoln Center to spot all of the stylish editors, show-goers, bloggers, and photographers before. I admit, I was intimidated and unsure of how the whole thing worked. So, when London Fashion Week began here in London about three weeks ago, I made sure that my confidence got up to the same level as my excitement, grabbed a close friend and my camera, and headed over to Somerset House to see it all happen live. There is nothing like it, and I had the absolute best time that Saturday. Even got my photo taken a couple of times.

Now, about the outfit. Knowing that everyone goes big for the shows, I knew that I had to really put on my best, but I was still a bit unsure of how it went down, so this felt like a good start for branching a bit out of my comfort zone, while still being comfortable enough. With the sun shining for once, it was warm enough to go with this sweater and a light blazer (that I have re-found my love for). Since we got up fairly early to head down to Somerset, these silky floral Forever 21 pants felt like I was in my loungewear, but the chicest ones at that.

Stay tuned for a few photos from London Fashion Week and Weekend coming up later this week!

Hope you all had a nice first start to March!

A to Z : B for Beauty

Monday, September 10, 2012

As this is the second post in our Monday lineup, in the middle of fashion week, there is no doubt that the "B" in our A to Z would focus in on the latest beauty trends being seen for Spring '13. Previously having been involved with J. Crew as the Head of Womenswear and Accessories Design until last year, this Spring 2013 presentation was Marissa Webb's first at launching her much anticipated collection. With the J. Crew aesthetic still seen throughout, in the mix of feminine touches with more tomboyish ones, the beauty details held the same qualities, as well. The hair and makeup was executed in that way that is so effortlessly elegant, but difficult to actually achieve perfectly with ease. Slightly tousled ponytails, clean faces, and bright lips, were the perfect combination to balance out the collection while certainly being complimentary instead of distracting.

Dress Up

Friday, September 7, 2012

I am a huge fan of anything and everything floral. I love the way that they can be applied to any type or style of garment and manage to have a fresh and feminine feel to them. Now that spring and summer seasons have passed, I have been looking into pieces that manage to still incorporate that fresh and floral look into more cooler month options. This dress from Asos is one that I feel can work well for nearly any seasons depending on how you style it. With it's slightly longer length and sleeves and darker background and petals--instead of pastels-- this is a style that I will be on the look for in the months to come. And, with little details like the buttons around the waist, it has just as much charm as is pretty.

What are all of you up to this weekend? I am headed to NYC today, and, though it's only been a month since I left, I am so ready to get back.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

NYFW Fall 2012 RTW: BCBG Max Azria

Thursday, February 9, 2012

It is finally that time of year again, and New York Fashion Week has begun yet another season to show off the collections for Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear. One of the collections that caught my eye,was that of BCBG Max Azria. With creamy tans, maroons, cobalt blues, oranges, and mustard yellows, the models worked the catwalk in loosely flowing and loosely fitted dresses, below the knee length pleated skirts, and trousers. There was a definite sense of geometric inspiration that was visible through the colored bars that adorned many of the pieces, as well as the sharp lines seen even on pieces as relaxed as an asymmetric mustard yellow and grey dress. Being a lover of dresses, the pleated numbers obviously stood out to me. However, Max Azria well exhibited the pants with a focus worthy top, as well.

These are some of my favorite from this morning's show:

As I finish up a knit shirt for class and pack to head into the city tomorrow morning, I can't help but begin to feel a bit antsy and childlike as I get more and more excited to be surrounded by all of the fashion that the city is known for. With BCBG Max Azria's show being as great and lust-worthy as it looked, I have no doubt that this season will bring amazing pieces from many designers, as it always does.
