Off the Shoulder

One of my favorite trends that's been popping up everywhere is the off-the-shoulder trend. I've already picked up a few other styles featuring this look, but this Forever 21 dress is definitely my favorite. The combination of blue and indigo flowers remind me of Texas bluebonnets, and the ruffled off-the-shoulder sections feel so fluttery and romantic when paired with seafoam pointed-toe pumps and swept back hair.

Is there a piece in your wardrobe that you can always rely on regardless of the occasion? For me, it's this Christian Siriano circle skirt dress. With it's flattering shape and obvious little black dress appeal, it always manages to make me feel feminine, polished, and pretty. When it comes to little black dresses, one of the many great qualities about them is that there are limitless ways to style them. This pink metallic snap belt, which is on sale at the store (!), and the seafoam Julie mary-jane's provide just the right amount of additions, without taking away from the dress's own beauty, as well.

Sea-glass

While I have always preferred the city to the ocean,  the varying colors of blues from the water have served as a constant source of inspiration and favorite of mine in terms of dress. When it comes to stripes, it is easy to accidentally drift into the traditional nautical style (as I had worn this skirt set with gold accessories and red lips once before). However, with colors of the ocean, a necklace resembling sea-glass, and my current favorite heels, the contrast of dark and light blues creates a sort of "neo-nautical" that seems much more fresh and updated.

So, remember this post? Well, after seeing how perfectly this sea foam skirt matched this incredibly soft Zara t-shirt, I figured I should give the colored monochrome look a try. With one of the trends from this summer being to mix the popularity of spring pastels with summers love of brights, I added my favorite neon belt to an otherwise pastel look, to create my first attempt at a colored monochrome style.

Basic & Brocade

I am usually not a shorts person. I always feel that they look weird on my legs and un-finished when I wear them. However, when they lean towards the dressier side, they are usually more in my liking. When I saw this brocade pair, the gold and sea foam color create the perfect combination and in getting them a size larger, have that relaxed fit that adds comfort, too. Since they are such as statement style, I paired them with a nubby basic T-shirt, gold accessories to match, and some fun chunky wedges so that it wasn't too dainty and gold.

There are some days--okay, many days-- when I wake up and just feel the need to get extra dressed. When I bought this skirt last summer, it's color literally left me awestruck. Before these past few seasons, it wasn't really popular and this was a color and a style that I was unfamiliar with. Both of which were reasons why it later ended up in my closet. There is something about wearing a maxi skirt--as well as one in a pale color-- that adds an elegance to how a person walks. Being additionally cautious as to where I walk and the sleekness of my steps to make the fabric sway across my legs were just the feminine and dressy touch that I had hoped for in dressing this morning.
