Tuesday Shoesday

As much as I have been talking about iridescent/metallic shoes and accessories (and basically any fashion style), I finally purchased a pair of shoes like the ones I had been eyeing. When I got caught in a crazy rainstorm the other day, I found myself stopping into H&M to browse  stay dry. Lucky for me, these blue and silver metallic sandals were on sale for $10. For a trend that may or may not stick around for long--even though I must admit, I am obsessed-- this great price, and the gloomy weather, made this purchase an easy one to make. In the summer, sandals are an obvious staple. Since I have gotten rather tired of wearing my basic black flats as my go-to, I am excited to see how I can incorporate these into my outfits and making them work as a creative nod to neutrals. Dress Up

Black and white pieces are made up of elements that remain classic and interesting, but with minimalistic and fairly simplistic notes. While prints and patterns can easily become bold and the opposite of simplistic, the windowpane trend catching on for spring 2013, is a pattern that can be easily incorporated as a basic. With it's precise grid lines and geometric order, the windowpane pattern is almost effortlessly put-together and chic. While I have seen this up and coming trend printed on blouses, skirts, and this sweater that I have my eye on, this Tibi dress is perfection. Though the peplum trend still seems to be going strong, this drop waist is a relief to waists everywhere, and it's little flounce on the bottom adds just the right amount of interest, as well as draws the eye down to add to a more complete look.

Although cap-toe shoes have been lust after since Chanel introduced her first pair of shoes in this style in 1957, today they can be see nearly anywhere and in varieties from over-the-knee to flats and everywhere in between. Today's shoe of the week is the J. Crew "Etta". Not only is this pump amazing in that it is covered in celebration-worthy gold with a ladylike camel cap, but, with a thicker heel, you'll be actually able to dance in them, as well. And, if you are in the mood to get really crafty, Refinery29 has a DIY on how to cap-toe any shoe to your desire. 

How would you wear this cap-toe look? I think "Etta" would look amazing toned down with a pair of relaxed jeans, basic t-shirt, and bold statement jewelry to top it off. What are your ideas?

{The Shoesday pick of the week}

Though summer is soon coming to an end, sandals are staples throughout the year in various parts of the states. When home in Texas, we can easily be having Thanksgiving outside and no doubt, sandals are definitely seen. While many prefer sandals that are solid neutrals like grey, white, tan, or black, there are infinitely more color options that can be just as neutral and add a little more flair to your feet, as well. This pair combines yellow (which can also act as a neutral) with a more typical neutral of tan, and can be worn just as similar in how you would wear more traditional neutrals. And, while on sale for under ten dollars, if this yellow-as-a-neutral is a trend that you just want to test out, this is a great way to start.
