Sequins + Sneakers

I love when a classic wardrobe staple, like a grey sweatshirt, gets an update. I had spotted this J.Crew version online and after keeping a gift card from there for far too long, realized that this was a perfect opportunity and piece to use it on. The sequin trim is just the right amount of sparkle for the simple shape and helps contrast with the sneakers. While I was never really a sneaker fan until about a year ago, I love how you can pair them with so many styles and they can instantly make your outfit casual and cooler at the same time. Sequins, chiffon, and sneakers--what more could you want in a casual look?

Three Ways: Lace Overalls Part I

I hope that everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving with family, friends, and loved ones. Being home in Texas was a much needed break. I know If you follow me on Instagram (leshkoln), I had promised this post would be up on Thursday. However, I decided to take time and be with family instead so this series is here this week instead.

I am not a fan of denim overalls at all. Unless you have stats of a supermodel, I find them to be unflattering on mostly all that attempt at them. However, when I saw these black lace ones this past summer at Necessary Clothing in New York City, I decided overalls are acceptable in lace (and obviously leather versions). To show how wearable and versatile they can be, this week I have shot them in three ways. Today, I chose to feature them in the form of pants layered under a denim button-down and new favorite sweatshirt. For some reason when I was getting dressed, denim just seemed like an obvious pairing for the black lace. I love how they are a straight style, but have a wider opening at the leg that I think looks fabulous with heels. With built-in solid shorts at the top, the sheerness is wearable for day-time but still able to be easily dressed up and styled for a night out.

A to Z: T-Shirts

More and more lately, I am embracing t-shirts. Pairing them with everything from slouchy denim shorts to colorful feminine skirts, t-shirts can be the perfect element to make the rest of your outfit a bit more casual, but still every bit stylish. I have been seeing these designer t-shirts around quite a lot lately, and though I haven't indulged in one yet, they are on my radar. From the classic Céline Paris one, to the humorous 'Homies' for Hermès and my personal favorite, 'Ain't Laurent Without Yves' for Saint Laurent, these t-shirts have not only the comfort and casual factor of traditional tees, but a little added humor and style, as well. Dress Up

Lately I have been coveting everything quilted. From about to start a jacket in my flat pattern class with quilted leather sleeves, to classic purses with their plush quilted sections, fashion with quilted qualities seems like a little bit of extra craftsmanship went into them, even if that is not actually the case. Being a fan of fabrics with a great texture, you can understand that quilted garments are up my alley. This week's dress has just enough quilting that the piece as a whole still maintains a shape. Keeping the quilting to the front and back torso of the dress, plain sweatshirt-style sleeves, and black detailing on the shoulders, this dress is definitely a more fun and updated version of a sweater dress with more interesting qualities, but just as much comfort.
